I love Japanese – it has to be my favourite cuisine. It’s always fresh and has healthy options a-plenty. Last year Mr Fit Foodie treated me to a meal at Saké – the best fine-dining Japanese in Sydney. It was my heaven. Their fresh sashimi, wakame salads and miso broth would rival any made in Japan (I’ve been there too – so can honestly vouch for that!). Of course, that kind of dining experience is not something you do every day. Boo.
That is…until SakeJr was born.
A mini take-out version at the top of the Westfield Shopping Centre in Sydney’s CBD, Saké Jr has an awesome build-your-own-bowl menu, so you can make up your own Saké dish just the way you like it.
I started with a base of greens, topped with seaweed, fresh sashimi salmon, edamame, avocado, nori and Shichimi Togarashi (amazing Japanese spice mix with chilies, sesame, orange peel, nori and more).
Mr Fit Foodie had a base of brown rice, edamame, miso cod, brussels sprouts, crispy pork, seaweed and chilli oil. Definitely more of a man meal, but nourishing all the same. Low carbs, high fat, veggie, meaty – whatever you want, you got it. This is the time when you can be be picky with your food, without eye rolling.
They’re also selling awesome punnets of fruit, freshly bottled almond milk, coconut water and juices. YAHOO!!! No more boring lunch times. You can make up something different and healthy every day of the week!
Next time you’re in the city and want something delicious, fast and fresh, you have to try this place out for your own bowl of DIY goodness. After all, shopping is cardio, right?! This is the perfect way to refuel.
Let’s go!!
Saké Jr – Westfield Pitt Street Mall, Shop 5019, Level 5, 188 Pitt Street Sydney NSW, 2000
Share yours with #sakejr or head to their instagram to see all the DIY bowls being made right now…drool.
